BLIA Sydney
The Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) is a prominent lay Buddhist organization that has made significant strides in promoting Humanistic Buddhism around the world. Established in 1992 by Venerable Master Hsing Yun, BLIA is intrinsically linked with the Fo Guang Shan Buddhist monastic order, the largest of its kind in Taiwan.
BLIA’s history is marked by its rapid expansion and the establishment of chapters across five continents, reflecting its universal approach to Buddhism that transcends cultural and national boundaries. The association was officially inaugurated in Los Angeles, California, and has since grown to include over 200 branch temples and numerous educational institutions.
In Australia, the BLIA Sydney Branch was formed in June 1991, even before the official establishment of BLIA. This branch was created by a group of devotees dedicated to the propagation of the Dharma, cultural exchange, education, and charity work, aligning with the broader goals of BLIA.
